What staff rate
Five dimensions, one home.
Stapha's view
Verified — based on our interview with leadershipHandover runs on paper and voice — no rushed screens between shifts. The manager, Rachel, was on the residential floor twice during our two-hour visit and knew every resident by first name. Training budget works out at about £480 per head per year, mostly spent on external dementia courses rather than in-house tick-boxes.
One thing we're proud of
“We stopped using agency for nights eighteen months ago because our own team wanted the hours. It's held.”

The last thing we changed because staff asked…
We moved handover fifteen minutes earlier so nights actually finish on time. Small thing, but it was the loudest ask in the last survey.

Rachel actually listens. Raised a concern about a resident's meds review on a Tuesday, it was booked by Thursday. That doesn't happen everywhere.
Thanks Priya — the med reviews being slow was one of the things you flagged in your last one-to-one, glad it's landed properly now.

Night Carer

Nights are calm and the handover-early change genuinely means I get home before the buses stop. Only downside is the staff kitchen is tiny for the number of us on break.
Care Assistant

I've grown a lot here but the first two months were rough — I was left with dementia residents on my second shift without a proper buddy. It's improved since they brought in the shadowing week, but I wouldn't want a new starter to have my start.
Deputy Manager

The clinical support from the visiting GP is the reason I've stayed. She'll teach off the cuff on the ward — I've learned more here than in two prior homes combined.

Feels like part of the care team, not a separate department. Residents come and chat while we cook. Uniforms could be better quality mind.
