Stapha's view

Verified — based on our interview with leadership

Development here runs on a visiting GP — Dr Malik comes in weekly and teaches at the bedside on clinical topics chosen by the staff, not by her. It's the kind of learning you'd normally only get on an acute ward. Culture is strong but a touch formal — new starters told us the first fortnight can feel a little cool before you're 'in'.

One thing we're proud of

Weekly bedside teaching from a real, working GP. Not e-learning. Not a webinar. A person.

Elm Tree Manor

A rule we broke because it wasn't working…

The one-page care plan. We went back to full narratives — takes longer, but the handover is a hundred times better.

Dr Malik's Tuesday teaching is a genuine reason to be here. I've learned things I never would have on a ward.

The training is unmatched. Team took a couple of weeks to warm to me but once I was in, I was properly in.

Clinically brilliant home but I've found the senior team quite hierarchical — feedback flows one way. Trying to raise things about the night rota has been a slow conversation.

Noted and I'd like a proper sit-down about the rota — I'll message you Monday. You're right that upward feedback needs work.

Been offered other jobs, always stayed. The clinical culture keeps me sharp and the residents get real medicine, not a nursing home version of it.

Feels like a proper professional environment. Small thing but the uniforms fit properly and are replaced when they wear out — sounds trivial until you've worked somewhere it isn't true.
